Eduard Shifrin
Eduard Shifrin (born 1960) is an entrepreneur, born in Dnipropetrovsk (now Ukraine), resident in London. Of Jewish ancestry, he has served as a vice-president of the World Jewish Congress since 2009.[1]
He graduated with a PhD in metallurgy from the Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys[2] and rose to prominence as a business oligarch in newly independent Ukraine, taking control of privatised steelmaker Zaporizhstal. He co-founded, with Alexander Shnaider of Midland Group, a holding company headquartered in Guernsey that embraces interests in steel (Zaporizhstal), shipping, real estate, agriculture and owned motorsport (Midland F1 Racing).
In Forbes magazine's ranking of "The World's Billionaires" in 2009 he was placed 559th with an estimated fortune of $1.3billion.[3] In the 2006 edition of the Sunday Times Rich List he was listed at number 59 with an estimated wealth of £920 million.
On October 27th, 2016, Eduard Shifrin and his daughter received Russian citizenship, by the decree of Vladimir Putin.[4]
