Erandol is a small town (taluka) in Jalgaon district in Maharashtra state, India. It is situated on the banks of the Anjani River.
History
Erandol was known as Ek Chakra Nagari in the time of the Pandavas. Later, the town's name was Arunawati.
Geography
Erandol is situated near the Anjani River, India Tapi valley of the Deccan Plateau, between the Satpura hills and Ajanta hills. It has an average elevation of 227 metres (744 feet). The Anjani River passes through the town, and the Anjani Dam lies nearby.
National Highway 6, which connects Mumbai and Nagpur, links Erandol with Dhule to the west and Jalgaon to the east. The nearest railway station is Dharangaon on the Surat Line, about 12 km away, and Mhasawad on the Mumbai Line, about 14 km away. Erandol shares borders with the talukas of Dharangaon, Pachora, Bhadgaon, and Anore.

Demographics
Erandol is a Municipal Council city in district of Jalgaon, Maharashtra. The Erandol city is divided into 18 wards for which elections are held every 5 years. The Erandol Municipal Council has population of 31,071 of which 16,000 are males while 15,071 are females as per report released by Census India 2011. Population of Children with age of 0-6 is 3916 which is 12.60% of total population of Erandol (M Cl). In Erandol Municipal Council, Female Sex Ratio is of 942 against state average of 929. Erandol has several basic and high school-level educational institutions. Prominent among them is R. T. Kabre High School, located on NH6, which many influential people in the region attended. There are also Marathi schools, which are centres for learning for the surrounding rural population.
Places of interest
Pandav Wada, Before the great Mahabharata war, the Pandav spent some time of their year in exile in Ekachakranagari. The area where they lived is known as Pandav wada. Pandav wada is famous as a place of historical interest. Bheema slayed the demon Bakasura in Padmalaya, about 15 kilometers from Erandol. To this day, one can find relics like Bheema kund, Bheema's hand mill, Bheema's bowl and the area where Bheema and Bakasura fought. A well close to the wada is known as Draupadikoop (Draupadi's well). The official government gazette even refers to this area as Pandav wada. A few years ago, school texts had a chapter about this place, which resulted in school outings to Pandav wada.
Sri Padmalaya
Among the two and a half Shree Ganapati Peeths in India, this place is regarded as the half Peeth. It is called as Padmalaya Kshetra. This temple is located at the top of a hill. There are small temples on all sides of the main temple. The padukas of Shree Govind Maharaj are located in front of the temple. There is a huge bell next to the padukas. There are two self-existent (Swayambhu) Ganesh idols in the sanctum. One idol has its trunk curving to the right and the other to the left. Padmalaya also known, as "Prabhakshetra" is a religious place located in Erandol Taluka about 4.8-km from Erandol. It is famous for the temples of Lord Ganapati and Hanuman. according to legend, the warrior Bhima fought and killed the demon Bakasura. The spring near the site is called Bhim Kund. There is also a Temple of Jagrut Kalika Mata located in the city at Main Road which has a History of 300 Years.

Public celebrations of the festival are popular, and are organised by local youth groups, neighborhood associations or groups of tradespeople. Funds for the public festival are collected from members of the association arranging the celebration, local residents and businesses.[1] The Ganesha idols and accompanying statues are installed in temporary shelters, known as mandaps or pandals. The festival features cultural activities such as singing, theater and orchestral performances and community activities such as free medical checkups, blood-donation sites and donations to the poor.
