Erebia melampus (lesser mountain ringlet) is a member of the Satyrinae subfamily of Nymphalidae. It is widespread and common in the southern valleys and mountains of Switzerland. The range extends across Austria and south to the Maritime Alps in France. It is found on altitudes of 800 to 2,400 meters.
The wingspan is 30–36 mm. Adults are on wing from July to September.
The larvae feed on various Festuca and Poa species.
