Eric Hawkey
Ernest Eric Hawkey was the sixth Bishop of Carpentaria.[1]
He was born on 1 June 1909, educated at Trinity Grammar School, Sydney [2] and ordained in 1936.[3] After curacies at St Alban’s, Ultimo and St Paul, Burwood[4] he was Priest in charge at Kandos. From 1947 to 1968 he was Secretary of the Australian Board of Missions and from 1962 a Canon Residentiary at St John's Cathedral, Brisbane[5] when he was ordained to the episcopate he died on 25 July 1986.
