Eric Smith is the Prosecuting Attorney of Macomb County, Michigan
Personal life and education
Smith earned a bachelor's degree from Central Michigan University and a JD from Detroit College of Law.[1]
Career
Before becoming Prosecuting Attorney, Smith worked in other positions in the Macomb County prosecuting department, including chief of the sex crimes division. Smith was elected Prosecuting Attorney in 2004 and re-elected in 2008.[2] Smith was elected to a third term in 2012. Smith gained notoriety in 2007 due to the Tara Grant murder case.[3]
Smith left an angry voice mail on Republican James Perna's voice mail. Smith later apologized to Perna and the two privately resolved the issue.[4]
