Eric Ouma[2] also christened “Marcelo” due to his similarity in style of play with Brazilian and Real Madrid defender Marcelo is a Kenyan footballer who plays for Kenya premier league side Gor Mahia Fc. He is known for his pace with the ball, good crosses and solid defensive skills. He can play as a left back or as a winger.
Club career
Early career
Ouma started playing at Ayany primary school in Kibera, Nairobi county. He played in the Airtel future stars U10,U15 and U17 categories before he proceeded to high school and joined Kakamega High school.
Kakamega High school
In 2012, Ouma joined Kakamega High school; He played for the school’s football team nicknamed “the green Commandoes” where he played in several positions making him a versatile player. He won the 2014 Kenya Secondary School Sports Association title and was also the best player in the tournament. He scored 20 goals, provided 36 assists in 62 appearances. Western Stima U19 Ouma was part of the Victorious western Stima U21 team that won the Kenya Premier League U19 tournament. He made 6 appearances providing 1 assist.
Senior career
Gor Mahia
Ouma joined Gor Mahia Fc[3] before the beginning of the 2016 Kenya Premier League season in December 2015 on a six month deal, after an impressive half season the deal was extended [4]on 2 July 2016 for another 6 months.
During his stay at Gor Mahia in the 2016 season, he made 30 appearances for Gor Mahia raking up 7 assists [5] in all competitions.
International career
Ouma has made his senior national team debut on 31 May 2016 in an international friendly match against Sudan, he later played against Congo in the 2017 African Cup of nations qualifiers a match that Kenya won 2-1.
He has 8 caps in all Competitions for Kenya.[6][7]
Ouma was among starts as Kenya held Uganda to a goalless draw in an international friendly match played at Nelson Mandela Stadium, Namboole on Tuesday 30 August.,[8]
On Sunday 4 September, Ouma started as Kenya held Zambia to a one-all draw in the last round of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Ndola, Zambia.[9][10][11]
Ouma featured in Kenyas's 1-0 win Over Mozambique in an international friendly on[12] 12 November 2016 at Moi Stadium Kasarani, Nairobi.
Ouma earned his eighth cap in a 1 - 0 win over Liberia in an international friendly match played on [13] 15 November 2016 at Moi Stadium Kasarani, Nairobi.
