Ethnic electronica (also known as ethnotronica, ethno electronica or ethno techno) combines elements of electronic and world music and was developed in the 1990s. The term ethnic electronica appears in music zines, in online music-related forums and blogs. The term "ethno-techno" was first seen with the release of Ethno-Techno: Sonic Anthropology Vol 1 Wax Trax! in 1994.
