Evgeni Utkin

Evgeni Utkin (Ukrainian: Євген Володимирович Уткін, Russian: Евгений Владимирович Уткин) was born in Donetsk, Ukraine, in 1958.

Education

1982 – graduated from Moscow Institute of Electronic Engineering, majoring in micro processors and their systems.

2001 – graduated from NSEAD Business school (France), Programme for top executives.

2008 – graduated from IMD Business school (Switzerland), Program of “Innovative business management”.

Work

1975-1976 – electromechanic at “Zapadnaya” mine, Donetsk, Rostov region.

1980-1982 - scientific employee at the Science and Research Institute of Precision Technology in Zelenograd, Russia.

1982-1990 - engineer, Head of Laboratory, and Chief Mechanical Designer at the Kiev Science and Research Institute of Micr Instruments.

In1990 he founded and headed the IT Company “Kvazar-Micro”, where he performed the duties of its President and Chairman of the Board.

In 2005 “Citronics” Company acquired 51% of “Kvazar-Micro” Company. In 2006 Evgeni Utkin was appointed President of “Citronics” Company. Under his guidance the company launched its first IPO at the London Stock Exchange raising the market capital of 2 bln. and 300 millions of US dollars and became the largest high tech company in Eastern Europe.

Today Evgeni Utkin chairs the Board of Directors of “Кvazar-Micro Securities”. He is the President of “KMS Ukraine” Company, Chairman of the Board of Directors of “NIIME and Micron” plc (Science and Research Institute of Molecular Electronics, Russia) and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the “Polyteda” Company (Canada). In October 2007 Evgeni Utkin left the company. In June 2009 “Kvazar-Micro” was detached from the “Sitronics” group to become, once again, an independent company under Evgeni Utkin.

Achievements

Evgeni Utkin has been awarded (by the state) the special title of ‘Outstanding Employee of the Ukrainian Industry’, and given an honorary certificate by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine. From 1998 till 2001 Evgeni Utkin held the position of the Chairman of the Council of Entrepreneurs under the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.

In 1997 he was pronounced Ukrainian “Businessman of the Year”. In 2007 Utkin became a laureate of the “TOP-10 managers of Russia”.

He has also organized numerous educational and cultural projects: the Gogolfest festival of modern art, the “Jazz in Kiev” jazz festival and the “MasterKlass” Cultural and Educational Centre.

Married with four children.

Interests: jazz, art, travelling, sports.
