The Faculty of Technology and Engineering is one of the 14 faculties at the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda.[1] As with most of the other faculties of Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, the Faculty of Technology and Engineering is housed in a palatial building. The building was a temporary palace of the Maharaja (king) of Baroda while his palace was being constructed. Hence is it located exactly opposite to the Laxmi Vilas Palace. The Maharaja donated the palace to open the school of engineering.
It was founded by Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III of Baroda as the Kalabhavan Technical Institute in 1890.

Notable Achievements
The department of Architecture is the second oldest school of architecture in India after Sir JJ School of Architecture in Mumbai. While this department was housed in Kalabhavan along with the rest of the Departments of the Faculty of Technology, it moved to its location at Dadabhai Naoroji Hall in Pratapgunj in 2000 when the first phase of its campus was completed with financial support from the Department's alumni association.
