Fandalism is a social networking website for musicians. It serves as a central site for musicians to meet each other and evaluate each other's performances.[1][2] Fandalism was developed by Philip J. Kaplan and reports nearly 500,000 registered members.[3]

In April 2012, Fandalism collaborated with Van Halen to help promote Van Halen's Interscope Records release, A Different Kind of Truth.[4][5] In October, 2012, Fandalism organized a live jam session in New York City that attracted hundreds of musicians to Washington Square Park.[6]

History

Launched in January 2012 by Philip J. Kaplan Fandalism grew exceedingly fast, by April 2012 the site had reached 350,000 members.

Website technology

Fandalism is a one-man company, it uses many external APIs to reduce the development work load. Google maps, Yahoo maps, YouTube, Amazon EC2 etc. The site is also notable for being one of the fastest growing sites built upon the open source Railo application server.
