Farm to Market Road 535 (FM 535) is a 33.4-mile (53.8 km) state-maintained roadway located in Bastrop County [1] in the US State of Texas that is a part of the state's Farm to Market Road system.
History
The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) agreed to build a new farm to market road from SH 95 at Smithville to Rosanky on July 9, 1945. On November 23, 1948, TxDOT agreed to extend FM 535 to FM 20 at Rockne. TxDOT made the decision to extend FM 535 to SH 21 at Cedar Creek on September 29, 1954. The last agreement for extension was made on October 29, 1992 with an increase of 5.8 miles from SH 21 to the Bastrop County Line. This section was previously named Pearce Lane.
Route Description
FM 535 begins at the Bastrop/Travis County Line. From there, it proceeds southeast through the communities of Cedar Creek and Rockne to SH 304 near Rosanky. The road then takes a northeasterly turn to its terminus at SH 95 just south of Smithville. The terrain is mostly flat with some rolling hills. It is mostly rural farmland and wooded areas with a few subdivisions and some businesses in the communities and major junctions.
