Farrier F-31
The Farrier F-31 is a trailerable 1992 production trimaran sailboat designed by Ian Farrier that evolved from the non-production Farrier F-9/Farrier F-9A/Farrier F-9AX/Farrier F-9R family, the first of which launched on 29 September 1991.[1][2]
Earlier F-9 Designs
F-9A
Apparently the standard F-9 design.
F-9AX
The F-9AX version was an extra roomy version of the F-9A, with a 15% wider center hull for more room and a 16% higher load capacity. Trailering beam also increases to 2.9m.[3]
F-9R
The F-9R was a high performance racing version of the F-9A with a rotating mast.[3]
Accolades
In 1992 the F-31 was judged Australian Sailboat of the Year.[1] In April 1992 Fred Gan's F-31 OSTAC TRIUMPH won the bi-annual Australian Offshore Multihull Championships. In the associated Brisbane to Gladstone Ocean Race, BOBSLED, a 67 foot million dollar racing monohull sponsored by Societe Generale,[4] made headlines in breaking the monohull record by an impressive hour and a half. The trailerable F-31 (a family cruiser) caught and passed BOBSLED, finishing an hour and fifteen minutes ahead.[1]
