Fischer Connectors
Fischer Connectors designs and manufactures a broad range of rugged circular push-pull connectors. Founded in 1954, its headquarters and manufacturing facility are based in St-Prex, Switzerland, with cable assembly facilities in Europe, North America and Asia Pacific, and subsidiaries and distributors located worldwide.
Fischer Connectors’ circular push-pull connectors and cable assembly solutions – both electrical and optical – are used in numerous applications, including automotive, broadcast, defense, energy, extreme, food, industrial, instrumentation, medical, nuclear, oil & gas, pharmaceutical, security, transportation and vacuum.
They are available in a wide choice of contacts, sizes, sealing, overmolding and locking systems and can be configured to suit any device or environment. They comply with international quality standards, including ISO 9001, ISO 13485, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, REACH and ROHS.
Fischer Connectors’ products are grouped in four product lines:
· Fischer Core Series, suited to fulfill any need in terms of size, configuration and application, with over 20,000 references;
· Fischer UltiMateTM Series, for rugged and compact applications when weight matters;
· Fischer FiberOptic Series, a pre-cabled solution for indoor, outdoor and extreme applications when performance and reliability are key;
· Fischer MiniMaxTM Series, suited for applications where density, signal & power, light weight and miniature size matter.
The company also produces a memory stick, the Fischer Rugged Flash Drive, which is used for the safe transportation and storage of sensitive data in harsh environments.
History
Walter Werner Fischer, a pioneering Swiss engineer, founded the company in 1954 in Morges, Switzerland. The company developed the very first sealed connector and, in 1962, took out an international patent on its proprietary push-pull locking system, which became a standard in connector technology. In 1964 it developed the world’s first hermetic connector.
Overseas expansion started with the first subsidiary being established in the UK in 1988, followed by other European countries, North America in 1991 and the first Asian subsidiary in Hong Kong in 2000.
The company gradually extended its Core Series to other materials, e.g. stainless steel, plastic, brass, aluminum, etc. It also created new product lines to fulfill the need for rugged, miniature and fiber optic connectivity solutions.
Dominique Glauser was appointed CEO in 2004. The ultra-rugged Fischer UltiMateTM Series was launched in 2010, the Rugged Flash Drive in 2011, and the high-density Fischer MiniMaxTM Series and high-precision FiberOptic Series in 2012.
In 2016, these last two product lines were extended with the ultra-miniature MiniMax 06 – combining 12 power and signal contacts in just 10mm diameter – and FO1, a single fiber optic connector with high data transmission rates in extreme environments. The USB 3.0 version of the Fischer Rugged Flash Drive was launched in June 2016.
