Foundation for Advancement of Science and Technology
The Foundation for Advancement of Science and Technology (FAST) was established in 1980, as a private national institution. The Foundation is registered with the Central Board of Revenue(CBR) and the Government of Pakistan as a charitable institution.
FAST established the National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences (NUCES or NU) in July, 2000, so as to expand the activities of existing institutes, to establish more campuses throughout the country, and to maintain its tradition of academic excellence. The University has been established/chartered by the Government of Pakistan under ordinance No.XXIII of 2000 on 1 July 2000 and is currently one of the leading technology universities in Pakistan.
The Foundation spends over one hundred million rupees annually to achieve its aims and objectives. It is the resolve of the Foundation that an indigent candidate, after he/she fulfills the selection criteria, should never be turned away from the doors of the University for want of resources, the Foundation currently spends over ten million rupees per year for financial support for the needy.
The university has campuses at Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Peshawar and Faislabad.
