FreeAgent is a cloud-based accounting product targeted at freelancers and micro businesses. It is developed by FreeAgent Central Ltd, a privately owned software company based in Edinburgh, United Kingdom.
History
FreeAgent was launched in September 2007. FreeAgent Central Ltd was founded by Ed Molyneux, Olly Headey and Roan Lavery. In 2012 it acquired the American startup 60mo, in order to expand into the US market.[1] It topped Deloitte's list of fastest growing technology firms in 2013.[2]
Major competitors
The biggest accounting competitor is QuickBooks, which holds up to 90% of the market of small businesses that already use an accounting application.
