The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) is the chief governing body of Visakhapatnam city. It has the jurisdiction limit of an area of 540 km2 (210 sq mi).[1] It is also a part of planning body of Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority.[2] The present municipal commissioner of the city is Praveen Kumar.[3]
Administration
The area of Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation is 681.96 km2 (263.31 sq mi). The Corporation is administered by an elected body headed by the Mayor. The corporation population as per the 2011 census was 20,91,811.[4] The Corporation consists of a total of 95,580 Street lights under its administration.[5]
