Gary Cowling (born November 4, 1961), is an American stage and motion-picture actor.

Cowling was born and grew up in Newport News, Virginia. He holds a BA in Theater and Speech from the College of William & Mary in Virginia, and a Masters of Fine Arts in Acting from West Virginia University. He has worked in theater, television, and film for a number of years.

Career

Cowling co-starred in the features What's Your Sign? (Audience Award WinnerSan Antonio Film Festival) and Waldo Walker by Wally White. He also appeared in Celebrity and Judgment Call, and as a stuntman in Analyze This. Cowling worked with director Mira Nair in The Namesake and director Griffin Dunne in The Accidental Husband (2007) where he worked with Uma Thurman and Colin Firth.

His Off-Broadway credits included Burn This, Billy Budd, Love! Valour! Compassion! premieres of Edenville, Wingman, Burnam Woods, The Lost Language of Twins and The Older Gentleman. He has also appeared in To Kill a Mockingbird, Macbeth and Winter's Tale.

Regionally Cowling was nominated for a Carbonell Award and was named Best Actor (The New Times/Broward-Palm Beach) for his work as Mason in Take Me Out at the Caldwell Theatre in Florida.
