George Tarantini
George Tarantini is a retired head men's soccer coach at NC State. He served as the school's head coach from the 1986 season to the 2010 season, and posted a 221-190-41 record in that 25 year span. He also was an assistant coach at NC State from 1982 to 1985. He has earned ACC coach of the year honors in both 1992 and 1994. He also was the NCAA regional coach of the year in 1994. He has directed the Wolfpack to eight NCAA Tournament bids. He is the winningest soccer coach in school history by a large margin.
His 1990 team won the ACC championship, and reached the Final Four, before falling to eventual national champion UCLA on penalty kicks. The Wolfpack ended that campaign with a 17-4-2 mark, the best in school history.
He started his coaching career in 1976 at Arlington High School in New York. From 1977 to 1980, he served as an assistant coach at Dutchess Community College.
