Godavarikhani is a city in Peddapalli district of the Indian state of Telangana state. It is located on the banks of Godavari River and hence, the name Godavari Khani (Khani=mines). This city is popular for its coal mines, controlled mostly by SCCL.[2] The main source of income for most of the inhabitants is the wage provided by SCCL.
Transport
Godavarikhani (GDK) TSRTC depot ply buses to surrounding villages and to various parts of the state.Its a good revenue region for Tsrtc. It has bus connectivity directly to many city's like Banglore,Guntur,Vishakhapatnam,Vijayawada,Hyderabad,Tirupathi,Warangal,Nizamabad,Karimnagar,kurnool,Bhadrachalam,khammam,kadapa,Bodhan,Rajahmundry,Narsampet,Manuguru,Mancherial,Hanmakonda,Torrur,Bodhan,Bhupalpally.There is direct connectivity of Four Lane Express Highway road from Hyderabad - Karimnagar - Ramagundam Hwy which is called Rajeev Rahadari (SH-1). Its a tollpay road.
Rail
This city has railway station named Ramagundam railway station which is the on the Kazipet–Ballarshah section of Secunderabad division. This Railway station is junction and potential stoppage for trains which go to New Delhi,Bhopal,Ahmedabad,Patna,Nagpur,Varanasi,Vaishnodevi Katra from Trivandrum,Chennai,Bangalore,Vijayawada,Visakhapatnam.
Coal mines
Godavarikhani is the major region for Singareni and it has Three regions namely RG-1,RG-2& RG-3 and Adriyala longwall project. Godavarikhani has 4 opencasts and 14 underground mines . Mainly coal excavated from this city is supplied to various industries and NTPC Ramagundam for power generation.
