Google Adwords' Keyword Planner tool is a product from Google Adwords which provides data around the search queries that happen in Google and other resources for planning a Google Adwords specific advertising campaign.[1]
Google Keyword Planner[2] is a tool that helps to build new Search Network campaigns or expand existing campaigns. It will help you to get keywords and ad group ideas, historical statistics, keywords trend, competitions, bidding etc. This service is offered for free by Google.

Limitations
There are several limitation and/or requirements to use the tool:[3]
- Confusing user interface
- No broad or phrase match searches
- Mandatory Google Adwords account
- Keywords provided by Google Keyword Planner are meant for paid advertisement and are not suitable for SEO[4]
- Google Keyword Planner hides valuable keyword data that can be revealed by using other keyword research tools [5]
- As of September 2016, Google Keyword Planner now limits data view for advertisers with lower monthly spend.For example, you may see values such as 0, 1-100, 100-1K, 1K-10K, 10K-100K, 100K-1M, 1M+ in the average monthly searches column. In addition, other advertisers may trigger the limited data view by reaching a limit on the number of searches for search volume data.[6]
