Gordon Donald Innes (8 October 1910 – 6 November 1992) was a rugby union and rugby league player. He was born in Dunedin, New Zealand and died in Christchurch.
Early life
Innes was a pupil of Christchurch Boys' High School.[1]
Rugby union career
He played 31 games in the second-five-eights (Inside centre) position for Canterbury and seven games (including two tests) for the All Blacks on their 1932 tour of Australia.
Rugby league career
Following that tour he accepted an offer to play the professional game in England, appearing for Wigan and Castleford. In his 1933 début for Wigan he scored a hat-trick of tries,[2] and he appeared for an English League XIII in a match against France in 1935.[3][4]
County League appearances
Gordon Innes played in Castleford's victory in the Yorkshire League during the 1938–39 season.[5]
County Cup final appearances
Gordon Innes played Centre, i.e. number 3, and scored a try played in Wigan's 12-21 defeat by Salford in the 1934 Lancashire Cup final during the 1934–35 season at Station Road, Swinton on Saturday 20 October 1934.
