The Constitution of Latvia (Satversme or Satversmes likums) define the nation as a parliamentary republic. Republic of Latvia is represented by:

- an unicameral parliament (Saeima) - legislative power and

- the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Latvia[1] - executive power.

Saeima consist of 100 members who are elected by proportional representation. Election is organized by Central Election Commission of Latvia. Members or Saeima are united in political parties and members of these parties gain seats in Saeima if they reach 5% of the popular vote.
