Gulf International School (GIS) is a K-12 school founded in 2005 in the city of Khobar, Saudi Arabia. The School consists of a Boys and a Girls section. The student population consists of over 1000 children ranging from ages 5 to 20. It is a K-12 educational institution with a certified British curriculum that has been gradually upgraded over the years. The school community of staff and students come from over 32 countries. The Saudi Arabia Ministry of Education, General Administration, approves the school for expatriate education. The language of instruction is English.

About

Gulf International School is set on a 2,500 square metres (0.62 acres) campus. It started with 95 students in 2005, and has grown steadily since. The campus features well-equipped modern libraries and laboratories, and provides Wi-Fi to facilitate e-learning. A multipurpose hall with state of the art infrastructure and a seating capacity of about 150 students has been constructed.

The international community includes Pakistanis, Egyptians, Jordanians, Lebanese, Syrians, Sri Lankans, Yemenis, Sudanese and Somalis among students while teachers are mainly Indians, Pakistanis, Egyptians, Saudis, Sri Lankans, Lebanese and Jordanians. To foster this international community, the school observes an International Integration Day.

Affiliated to the University of Cambridge, the school provides its academic program in English language with an integrated array of curricular, co-curricular and extracurricular activities.

Admission

The school through its Admission Policy promotes equal opportunities to all. Admissions are open to all students with no discrimination based on religious, racial, national or linguistic differences. The students who show potential and who are able to meet all the academics and behavioral requirement are admitted in the school.

Early childhood program

Students who are 2 years 9 months to 3 years of age in September of the current school year are eligible to enter the Early Childhood Program KG-1 (Kindergarten-I). Students who are 3 year 9 months to 4 years of age in September of the current school year are eligible to enter the KG-2 (Kindergarten-II) Program. Students who are 4 years 9 months to 5 years of age in September of the current school year are eligible to enter the KG-3 (Kindergarten-III) Program.

Elementary/high/higher secondary school admission

Students enrolling in The Gulf International School are accepted in a grade level based upon their previous school experience and their chronological age. Assessment of the stuents's ability to be successful in the program offered at a particular grade level determines the student's placement. the assessment consists primarily of a review of previous school records. In addition, the student is invited for a placement interview followed by admission test, and former schools might be contacted for further information.

The student's school records are evaluated by The Gulf International School's Admissions Team.

Cambridge affiliation

Gulf International School is affiliated to Cambridge International Examination, authorized to offer Cambridge Primary Checkpoint, Lower Secondary CheckPoint, IGCSE O Level and Advanced Level Programs.

AdvancED accreditation

Gulf International School has been awarded Accreditation for 5 years by North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA CASI).

Extra-curricular activities

Extra-curricular activities include competitions for Science Exhibition, Model making, Speech, Essay writing, Toastmasters, and Sports Day. Sports Day is held each year at Al-Nahda Club or Al Ettifaq Club (Saudi Arabia).

Co-curricular activities include Arabic Day and International Integration Day, a celebration to promote the spirit of oneness and respect for all wherein a variety of activities that promote the belief "Together We Can Make A Difference".
