Guru Bangsa Tjokroaminooto is an 2015 Indonesian drama film was directed by Garin Nugroho. The film starred by Reza Rahadian, Christine Hakim, Didi Petet, Alex Komang, Maia Estianty, Chelsea Islan, etc. According to director Garin, the film has been some weaknesses from some point storyline to the acting player and also result of characteristic picture to so unclear, due to playing mixing role, like Indonesian and Hollywood.[1]
The film had winning awards of Indonesian Film Festival, including Best Costume Design for Retno Ratih Damayanti and Best Art Director for Allan Sebastian and also winning award for Best Feature Film at the 2015 Maya Awards. At 2016 Usmar Ismail Awards, the film subsequently receiving two awards for Best National Library (Special Award) and Favorite Film (based on audience favorite).
Plot
A Indonesian nation teacher named HOS Tjokroaminoto (Reza Rahadian) was born of nobility Java with Islamic background is very strong, look at this situation and not just remain silent. Although in the family and neighborhood gentility who live comfortably, he dared to take the decision to abandon its notability status and started working as a stevedore and to feel the suffering of the people-the common people. He also became the founder of Sarekat Dagang Islam (SDI), and he also became a teacher of young men who would become great figures Indonesia with various ideologies such as the first President of Indonesia, Soekarno, Kartosuwiryo as well as the leaders of the Communist Party of Indonesia (PKI) as Alimin, Musso and Tan Malaka.
