The Halle Steensland House is located in Madison, Wisconsin, United States. It was designed by Gordon and Paunack in the Queen Anne style in 1901, and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.[1]
History
The house was built for Norwegian immigrant Halle Steensland, who later served as a U.S. Vice Consul in Sweden and Norway. In 1974, it was designated a landmark by the Madison Landmarks Commission.[2]
The house has been owned by the Bethel Lutheran Church since the 1960s. In 2015, they moved the house, from its location facing N Carroll Street, approximately 200 feet to a location in the same block but facing W Gorham Street.[3] The church is planning to renovate the house for use as student housing.[4]
