Hamilton District Christian High is an independent Christian high school in Ancaster, Ontario. It was established in 1956 by members of the Christian Reformed Church in North America. Over the years, the school diversified to include families from a wide variety of Christian faith traditions and denominations. As of 2013, the school has 460 students and 50 staff members. About 10% of the student population is international, with origins from China, Macau, Thailand, S. Korea, Nigeria, Ghana,and Germany. There are about 5000 alumni around the world. The majority live in Canada and USA. HDCH is a member of the Ontario Alliance of Christian Schools. The Mission of HDCH is "Cultivating character through learning for a life of service to God." The school's mission is expressed through Exceptional Education. Imaginative, innovative and interwoven Christ-centred learning is core to the school's essential Biblical identity.
Athletics
HDCH's sports teams are called the Knights, and are particularly strong in soccer, volleyball, basketball and track and field. In addition, the Knights field teams in hockey, lacrosse, badminton, and golf. The school participates in HWIAC competing against public high schools in the region, belongs to SOSSA, and regularly qualifies for provincial finals at OFSAA. In addition individual athletes excel in sports such as judo, tae kwon do and swimming. Students develop personal skills in the school's fitness centre.
