"Headed for a Heartbreak" is a power ballad released as a single by the American rock band Winger, from their self-titled debut album Winger. Released in May 1989, the song reached #19 on the US Hot 100 and #8 on the US Mainstream Rock chart. It is one of several progressive metal songs that gained popularity in the United States Hot 100 before the first single by the band Tool for their album Lateralus (reached #67 in 2001). The B-side to the single was "State of Emergency".
