The IPW:UK Tag Team Championship (also referred to as the Unified British Tag Team Championship due to its lineage) is a professional wrestling tag team championship owned and copyrighted by International Pro Wrestling: United Kingdom and Real Quality Wrestling. The IPW:UK title was established in 2005 and the RQW title was established in 2007. The titles merged in 2008. On September 5, 2012 RQW announced that all their titles would be under the control of WAW becoming European open Championships.

History

The IPW:UK Tag Team Championship was established at Weekend of Champions along with their Heavyweight belt in 2005. The knockout tournament took place over two nights. Similarly the RQW Tag Team Championship was decided with a knockout tournament but this took place over a series of events in 2007. As RQW moved further towards being an umbrella organisation than an outright promotion, the belts were unified at IPW:UK's Royale Rewards. Although the two belts were unified under the new name of British Tag Team Championship, the lineage continues from the IPW:UK belt. On September 5, 2012 it was announced that The RQW titles were to be put under the control of WAW as European open championships. Roy and Zak Knight won the vacant belts against the army of 2 in Norwich on the 15th of September 2012 at their king of the ring event

RQW Brackets

The tournament to crown the first tag team champions of RQW began in January 2007 until their annual Summer Brawl in August where the inaugural champions were crowned.[1]
