The American Idia or American Snout (Idia americalis) is a species of litter moth of the Erebidae family. It is found from southern Canada to Florida and Texas.
The wingspan is about 25 mm. Adults are on wing from May to October. There are multiple generations per year.
The larvae feed on lichen and detritus, including dead leaves.
