Ihasan Ali is a Pakistani archeologist. He served as Vice-Chancellor of Hazara University from 2006-2009.Presently he is serving the Vice-Chancellor of Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan.He is also served as Additional Vice-Chancellor of Islamia College Peshawar.Dr Ihsan is an eminent researcher, academician and administrator with several distinguished services rendered in various fields.[2][3][4] He is an educationalist and great proponent of preserving the cultural and historical relics of this great nation.[5]
Education and Career
He born in the district Charsadda, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan and studied Archeology at University of Peshawar,and then obtained his PhD from one of the world renowned seat of learning, University of Cambridge, U.K.[6] Dr.Ihsan served for the University of Peshawar in different professions from 1981 to 2002[4] Prof. Dr. Ihsan Ali has earned a name for Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan. Under his leadership AWKUM has maintained the level of academic excellence. His meritorious services in academics, administration and for the welfare of the region are highly commendable.He has been given the additional charge for his landmark efforts paid for the uplifting of AWKUM.[7] Dr Ihsan Ali travelled worldwide and delivered lectures, in various universities of the world including New York, Pennsylvania, Harvard, Boston, Ohio and California State University in USA, Cambridge, Leicester, Southampton, Sheffield and Glasgow Universities in UK, ULM University Germany etc. He has published over 63 research papers and edited 17 different Volumes of Journals in Archaeology, for University of Peshawar, Peshawar Museum and Hazara University.[2] After being the Chair of Archaeology, University of Peshawar for three years (1997-2000), he was appointed as Director Archaeology & Museums, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in 2002, and during his tenure, he has established six Museums and started a new Journal “Frontier Archaeology”.[2] In 2008, the Govt. assigned him the task of establishing Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan, with nine Campuses, two of which have now attained the status of independent universities (Bacha Khan University Charsadda & University of Swabi) and taken to a level where they are rated very high amongst the Public Sector Universities of Pakistan.[2]
