Indian Empress is one of the larger private yachts in the world at 95 metres (311 feet 8 inches) in length and is owned by Indian Vijay Mallya. Launched in 2000 as Al Mirqab, she was finished at the Oceanco yard in the Netherlands to the design of the A Group after having had her hull assembled in Durban, South Africa. The yacht was previously owned by the Qatari Royal Family. Mallya Bought this yacht in 2006 for an undisclosed sum of money. He has been an avid yacht enthusiast and also hosts parties on his yacht each year during the Monaco Grand Prix. The after party on Indian Empress re quite famous and is attended by Many Formula One dignitaries along with celebrities and even Prince Albert of Monaco. According to the report back in 2013 Mallya sold this yacht and now inly charters this yacht three months in a year but not that's confirmed and nor denied by the media.
Indian Empress is powered by three 10,000-hp MTU 20-cylinder engines, and has three propellers enabling her to reach speeds of up to 24 knots. Her cruising grounds include the Mediterranean sea, the Caribbean and the Indian Ocean.
