Ingrid Kavelaars (born March 20, 1971 in London, Ontario) is a Canadian film actress.

Early life

She graduated high school from Regina Mundi College in London, Ontario.

Career

Ingrid moved to New York City from London, Ontario at the age of 19 to pursue a career as an actress. She has mostly done work on television shows and most notably three episodes in the Canadian/American sci-fi series, Stargate SG-1 between 2003-2004, playing United States Air Force Major Erin Gant. In 2006, she was a main character in a Canadian television series called Whistler. She is returned for the second season, but the television series was cancelled before the story could continue into its third season.

Since 2010 Ingrid has played the Character Lori Unger in the HBO Canada Television show Living in Your Car.

She also played presidential candidate Harriet Traymore in XIII: The Series Season 2.

Personal life

Ingrid was Miss Teen London in 1987, and she was first runner up for Miss Teen Canada 1987.

She has three sisters and one brother. Her twin sister Monique Kavelaars competed in the same competition in 1989, and was Miss Teen London 1989, as well as Miss Teen Canada 1989. Monique is also a world class athlete in fencing, a Silver Medalist at the Commonwealth Games. Monique appears in one episode of the show Jeremiah, Moon in Gemini, playing the twin sister of Ingrid's character. This is her only acting credit. Ingrid and Monique also have an older sister, Annette Kavelaars Burrows, who was also Miss London 1984, and competed in the 1985 Miss Canada Pageant. Their final sister, Marycatherine Kusch (formerly Kavelaars) is a Chartered Accountant and partner at Wilkinson and Rogers accounting firm in London, ON. Her brother, JJ Kavelaars, is a professional astronomer at the Herzberg Institute of Astrophysics as well as a professor at the University of Victoria.

On June 29, 2001, she married Dallas Eakins, the former head coach of the Edmonton Oilers of the National Hockey League. She currently resides in Edmonton, Alberta, and Scottsdale, Arizona. Kavelaars and Eakins have two daughters, Emerson (born in 2008) and Cameron (born in 2011).
