Jacksonville Bancorp, Inc. is a publicly traded bank holding company that wholly owns The Jacksonville Bank. The bank is a Florida state-chartered commercial bank that operates via eight branch locations in Jacksonville and Jacksonville Beach, Florida as well as via an online branch.[3] The company provides community banking services to businesses and individuals through the operation of Jacksonville Bancorp Inc.[4] The Jacksonville Bank has grown into a thriving metropolitan area and it includes its main office and seven branches.[5][6] The company's common stock is traded on the NASDAQ stock market under the symbol of "JAXB".[7]
The bank has 103 employees; a few serve as officers of the holding company which has no separate employees.[8]
In February 2013, the shareholders had authorized the Board of Directors to launch a reverse stock split at the special meeting of shareholders. And then, the company announced reverse stock split into implementation on October 24, 2013, with the continuous utilization of the symbol "JAXB".[9]
History
Jacksonville Bancorp Inc was incorporated on October 24, 1997, under the laws of the State of Florida. Then Jacksonville Bancorp Inc opened the Jacksonville Bank on May 28, 1999, now the bank has become the major business of Jacksonville Bancorp Inc.[1] In 2004, Jacksonville Bank moved its headquarters to the former Barnett Bank headquarters building at 100 North Laura Street in downtown Jacksonville.[10] On November 16, 2010, Bancorp completed the acquisition of Atlantic BancGroup, Inc. (“ABI”). Following the acquisition, ABI’s wholly owned subsidiary, Oceanside Bank, merged into the Jacksonville Bank.[11]
