Jacob Derwig (born 15 July 1969) is one of The Netherlands' most outstanding actors. In 2003 he married actress and screenwriter Kim van Kooten; they have a son Roman (born 2004) and a daughter Kee (born 2007).
Theatre
From 2005 until 2013 Derwig performed with the renowned Dutch theatre company Toneelgroep Amsterdam, working with artistic director Ivo van Hove For his part in Opening Night in 2006 he won an Arlecchino for best supporting actor. He won a Louis d'Or (best actor in a leading role) for his performance in Children of the Sun in 2011. In 2008 he received the prestigious Paul Steenbergen-penning from Pierre Bokma. After leaving the Toneelgroep he turned his focus towards film and television. He maintained his career in the theatre with roles in Who's afraid of Virginia Woolf in 2014, for which he won another Louis d'Or, and in Angels in America in 2015. For his next project Jacob has adapted the famous novel Revolutionary Road by Richard Yates for the stage and will star in this production next year.
Film and television
He recently played roles in box-office hit Family Way (2012), The Dinner (2013), Public Works (2015) and in the highly popular Dutch crime-series Penoza (2015), directed by Diederik van Rooijen. Currently Jacob stars in the brand new television-series Klem (2016).
