Jake Nava

Jake Nava is a British director, best known for his work in music videos and TV commercials.

Career

Nava graduated with a degree in film from the University of Westminster.[1] After college, he began his career directing music videos and films for MTV Sports.[2] He's created videos for various artists, including Britney Spears, Beyoncé,Arctic Monkeys and Adele.[3] Nava has also directed advertising campaigns for Armani, Puma, Bacardi, and more. In 2013, he directed three music videos for Beyoncé’s visual album (“Partition,” “Grown Woman,” and “***Flawless”).

2014 saw his first collaboration with Lana Del Rey on 'Shades of Cool' (nominated best music video by Camerimage Film Festival). In 2015 he directed his first commercial for Guinness 'Intolerant Champion'. In 2016 he directed Martini's 'Play With Time' for their global relaunch and also 'We Are Made of Football" a second spot for Guinness with AMV.

Nava’s ‘unthinkable’ for Alicia Keys was awarded outstanding music video NAACP image award. Nava's advertisement for Lucozade placed #10 on Campaign Magazine’s Top 10 TV & Cinema Ads.[4] Entertainment Weekly named Nava the fifth best music video director of 2011 for his videos “Monster” and "Someone Like You” (which went on to notch up 779 million views on Vevo).

The Times placed Nava's video for Beyoncé, "Single Ladies", at #3 in The 25 Most Influential Music Videos of All Time.[5]. Time Magazine - placed it in its 30 All-TIME Best Music Videos and Rolling Stone Magazine voted it #2 best music video of the decade. It also won "Video of the Year" at the MTV Video Music Awards, the MTV Europe Music Awards and the BET Awards and was put on display in The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s ‘American Woman’ exhibit.
