James E. Smith Jr. is an American politician and a member of the South Carolina House of Representatives. He has represented the 72nd district in Richland County since 1997. A Democrat, he endorsed Joe Biden in the 2008 U.S. presidential election.[1] and Hillary Clinton in the 2016 U.S. presidential election.[2]
Military Service
Smith was a member of the Army Reserve from January 1996-August 1998 and a member of the South Carolina Army National Guard since 1998. He served in Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan from February 2007-May 2008.[3]
