The Hello magazine describes it is as a festival that displays the work of leading international artists whose light itself as their creative material.[3] More than 200,000 visitors viewed the light show in 2011. In 2012 the show is being extended into the city's Muslim quarter for the first time, it will be located on Rehov Hagay, the commercial street leading into the Old City from the Damascus Gate.[4] The festival, which lasts a week, is sponsored by the Jerusalem Municipality, the Prime Minister’s Office, the semi-public Ariel Company and the Jerusalem Development Authority. The cost of NIS 7 million NIS is partly defrayed by commercial sponsors.[4]
