Jian-Shu Li

Jian-Shu Li (Traditional Chinese: 勵建書; Simplified Chinese: 励建书), also known as LI Jianshu, is a Chinese mathematician. He is the current Head and professor of the Department of Mathematics at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.

Career

Li is the current President of the Hong Kong Mathematical Society (香港數學會/香港数学会).

Li was born in Xiaoshan (current Xiaoshan District), Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province. He graduated from Xiaoshan Middle School. Li studied mathematics at the Department of Mathematics at Zhejiang University. He later obtained his Ph.D. in mathematics from Yale University.[1] Before returning to Hong Kong, Li was a professor at the University of Maryland, College Park and Massachusetts Institute of Technology.[2]

Currently Li is a Professor of Mathematics at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. He is also a researcher at the Center of Mathematical Sciences, Zhejiang University, as well as a guest professor and doctoral advisor at Zhejiang University's Department of Mathematics.[3]
