Jim Rice is a Republican Idaho State Senator representing District 10[1] since his March 1, 2012 appointment by Idaho Governor Butch Otter.[2] Rice was elected to the seat in November 2012.
Education
Rice graduated from Melba High School, attended Brigham Young University and earned his JD from William Howard Taft University.
Elections
- 2012 Following Republican Senator John McGee's resignation, Idaho Governor Butch Otter appointed Rice as his replacement March 1, 2012. Rice won the May 15, 2012 Republican Primary election with 1,987 votes (68.8%),[3] and won the November 6, 2012 General election with 7,706 votes (61.2%) against Democratic nominee Leif Skyving,[4] who had also been the Democratic nominee for the seat in 2010.[5]
