Joseph Anthony Musgrove (born December 4, 1992) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Houston Astros of Major League Baseball (MLB).

Career

Musgrove was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the first round of the 2011 Major League Baseball draft out of Grossmont High School in El Cajon, California.[1] He made his professional debut that year with the Gulf Coast Blue Jays and also pitched in one game for the Bluefield Blue Jays. He started 2012 with Bluefield. On July 20, 2012, Musgrove was traded from the Blue Jays to the Houston Astros with Francisco Cordero, Ben Francisco, Asher Wojciechowski, David Rollins, and Carlos Pérez, in exchange for J. A. Happ, Brandon Lyon, and David Carpenter.[2]

Musgrove started his Astros career with the Greeneville Astros. He spent 2013 with the Gulf Coast Astros and 2014 with the Tri-City ValleyCats.[3][4] Musgrove started 2015 with the Quad Cities River Bandits and was promoted to the Lancaster JetHawks.[5] The Astros added him to their 40-man roster after the season.

Musgrove was recalled by the Astros from the Fresno Grizzlies on August 1, 2016. He made his major league debut on August 2 versus the Toronto Blue Jays, striking out 8 over 4.1 innings while only allowing 1 hit.
