Joel Segal is an American sports agent and the President of Team Sports for Lagardere Americas. He graduated magna cum laude from George Washington University where he was inducted into the George Washington University Sports Executives Hall of Fame in 2011.[1] Segal graduated from Hofstra Law School as a member of the prestigious Law Review.[1]
In 2016 Segal was named to USA Today's "The NFL's 100 Most Important People" list.[2] He was named to Forbes "World's Most Powerful Sports Agents" lists in 2015.[3] In 2010 Segal was recognized as the 7th "Most Powerful Sports Agent in America" by Business Insider Law Review.[4] In 2008 Segal was named one of the "Most Powerful Sports Agents" by Sports Business Journal.[5]
Career
Segal ran a private practice and later became President of Football for Lagardère Sports. In May of 2016 Lagardère Sports announced Segals expansion to President of Team Sports. [6][7]
Through his career, Segal negotiated contracts for a large list of high-profile players, including Will Smith, Reggie Hall, Reggie Bush, Santonio Holmes, Chris Johnson, Jason Campbell and numerous others.[8][9] At eleven consecutive years, Segal also has the longest first-round draft picks streak representing players.[10]
Notable clients
With over 25 years of experience representing NFL players, Segal has built one of the largest practices in the league.[11] He is regarded as a top agent in professional American football and is known to work diligently for those he represents.[6][12] Regarding his work ethic, Segal said, "I will outservice and outwork anybody. My job is to look out for and protect my clients.[6]
