Johanna Klink (17 January 1903 – February 2015) was a German supercentenarian, who was the oldest living person in Germany since the death of Frieda Szwillus on 21 September 2014.[2]

Biography

She was born on 17 January 1903 in Siemianowitz-Laurahütte, Silesia, Germany (now Siemianowice Śląskie, Silesia Voivodeship, Poland) as one of four sisters. Her youngest sister died aged 98 in 2005. Another sister, Maria Gebel (born 19 November 1906 near Rybnik) died shortly before Klink's 109th birthday at age 105. She was Soltau's oldest citizen.[3]

Klink married three times, and had one daughter called Helga (born around 1938), who is still alive at the time of Klink's death. In 1945 Klink and her family fled to Oschatz, where she lived in a nursing home beginning in 2004. She remained in good physical and mental shape. At age 102 she broke her hip but recovered quickly and was soon able to walk with an aid.[4][5][6]

Johanna Klink died on either 19 or 20 February 2015, at age 112 years and 33 or 34 days.[7][8] The death left Charlotte Klamroth as the oldest living person in Germany.[8]
