John Goscha (born March 19, 1984) is an American inventor and entrepreneur. He is the founder and CEO of The Finally Light Bulb Company [1] which has developed Acandescence, a next generation energy-and cost-efficient lighting technology which replicates all the attributes of incandescent technology while using 75% less energy.[2] He is also the founder of IdeaPaint,[3] a paint that can turn almost any surface into a dry-erase writing surface.
Early life
Goscha was born in 1984 in Littleton, Colorado. He graduated from Regis Jesuit High School in Aurora, Colorado in 2002 and earned a B.S. in Economics and Entrepreneurship from Babson College in Wellesley, Massachusetts in 2006.
Professional career
Goscha’s entrepreneurship began when he was sixteen years old, launching a website that sold custom golf clubs.[4] As an undergraduate at Babson College, Goscha founded IdeaPaint[5] and was able to secure funding for its production as well as expand distribution into stores such as Lowe’s.[6][7][8]
John is the founder and CEO of the Finally Light Bulb Company, which has engineered new lighting technology that replicates incandescence without the energy waste.[9] It is an adaptation of induction lighting that has been miniaturized to fit inside a standard light bulb form.[10]
Awards and recognition
In 2009, Goscha was named to Inc.'s "30 Under 30" list[11] and was named one of America’s Best Young Entrepreneurs by Business Week.[12] Goscha was also named to Forbes’s "30 Under 30" list for Technology in 2011.[13]
IdeaPaint has also won numerous awards such as the Best Innovation Award and the Best of NeoCon Gold Wall Treatment Award at the NeoCon Trade Show in Chicago in 2008.[14] In 2011, IdeaPaint was also awarded with the New England Innovation Award by the Small Business Association of New England (SBANE).[15]
