John Linson
John Linson is an American film producer, Television producer and founder of Linson Entertainment.[1][2] He is known for producing films such as Great Expectations (1998 film) Lords of Dogtown, The Runaways (film) and creating the TV show Sons of Anarchy.[3][4][5]
Personal life
Linson was born in Los Angeles, CA. He is a licensed Private pilot and longtime motorcycle enthusiast.[6]
Career
John began his career making music videos. Some credits include producing and directing the Porno for Pyros video Tahitian Moon. He went on to produce Nirvana (band) Live at the Paramount (video) and the Guns N' Roses mini-documentary entitled "Guns N' Roses Don't Cry: Makin' F@*!ing Videos". His first major film production was Great Expectations (1998 film) directed by oscar winner Alfonso Cuarón. John has since produced movies such as Lords of Dogtown, which starred Heath Ledger directed by Catherine Hardwicke, and The Runaways (film) starring Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning directed by Floria Sigismondi which was named by Rolling Stone as the #1 rock movie of all time.[7]
Riding motorcycles since his early teens, John turned his passion for riding into the idea and creation of Sons of Anarchy.[5] Sons of Anarchy became FX (TV channel) highest rated TV series.[8] In 2014, John and his producing partner Art Linson inked an overall deal with HBO.[9] Their project Yellowstone is penned by Sicario writer Taylor Sheridan. John is also developing Pulitzer Prize winner Rick Atkinson book The Long Gray Line into a series which will be penned by Phil Klay who won National Book Award for Fiction for his book Redeployment (book).[10]
In 2016, John will produce the movie The Comedian which is an upcoming American comedy-drama film directed by Taylor Hackford and written by Lewis Friedman, Richard LaGravenese, Art Linson, and Jeff Ross. The film stars Robert De Niro, Leslie Mann, and Harvey Keitel. Also in 2016 John will produce The Outsider which is an American action crime drama film directed by Martin Zandvliet and written by Andrew Baldwin. The film stars Jared Leto and Tadanobu Asano.[11]
