John Pooley

John Pooley DD was an Anglican bishop in the late 17th and early 18th centuries.[1]

Pooley was born in Ipswich and educated at Trinity College, Dublin.[2] He was appointed a Prebendary of St Michan's in Christ Church Cathedral, Dublin on 23 February 1673[3] and became Dean of Ossory on 6 March 1674.[4] He was consecrated Bishop of Cloyne on 2 DEcember 1697; and translated to Bishop of Raphoe in 1702.[5]

He died in Dublin on 16 October 1712:[6] there is a memorial font to his memory at Raphoe Cathedral.
