Evening Hymns is a Canadian indie folk rock band, whose core member is singer and songwriter Jonas Bonnetta. A native of Orono, Ontario,[1] Bonnetta released a solo recording, Farewell to Harmony, under his own name in 2007 before choosing the name Evening Hymns, because he did not want his music to become pigeonholed as singer-songwriter material.[1] The band consists of Bonnetta and a rotating collective of musicians which includes members of Ohbijou, The Wooden Sky, The Burning Hell, The D'Urbervilles and Forest City Lovers.[2]
Spirit Guides was released in 2009 on indie record label Out Of This Spark and Kütu Folk Records in France. In June 2013, their studio album Spectral Dusk was longlisted for the 2013 Polaris Music Prize.
Evening Hymns signed to Outside Music in June 2015. Quiet Energies the follow up to Spectral Dusk releases September 18th, 2015 (Canada and United States) and Kütu Folk Records (France). The album will be released on Tin Angel Records in the UK and EU on October 16th, 2015.
