Joseph Manu (born 29 June 1996) is a New Zealand professional rugby league footballer who currently plays for the Sydney Roosters in the National Rugby League. He plays at wing and centre.

Background

Born in Hamilton, New Zealand and raised in Tokoroa,[2] Manu is of Cook Island descent[3] and played his junior rugby league for Tokoroa High School. He was then signed by the Sydney Roosters.

Playing career

Early career

From 2014 to 2016, Manu played for the Sydney Roosters' NYC team.[4][5] In 2015, he scored 22 tries in 24 matches and played for the Junior Kiwis against the Junior Kangaroos on 2 May of that same year.[6] On 16 June 2015, he re-signed with the Roosters on a 2-year contract.[7] On 14 September 2015, he was named on the wing in the 2015 NYC team of the year.[8]

2016

In round 15 of the 2016 NRL season, Manu made his NRL debut for the Roosters against the New Zealand Warriors.[9][10] In September, he was named on the wing in the 2016 NYC Team of the Year.[11] In October, he played in the NYC grand final, winning the Roosters' maiden Holden Cup, before extending his contract with the Roosters from the end of 2017 until the end of 2018.[12]
