K. M. Shaji born on 22 December 1971 is an Indian politician who is a member of the Kerala Legislature for the Azhikode constituency, Kannur and he is a native of Kozhikode. Shaji represents the Indian Union Muslim League in Kerala and is the president of Muslim Youth League in Kerala.Currently he is the secretariat member of Muslim League Kerala.[1][2][3][4] He is also treasurer Muslim leage parliamentary party

Early life

""KM Shaji"" was born in Kniyambatta, Wayanad to (late) Beerankutty K. M. and P. C. Aysha Kutty. His schooling was from Kaniyambatta Govt. High School then he completed his pre-degree from Chenamangalore College. After that he joined Bangalore for BBM, but he couldn’t complete his course, because of his father’s death. He has to come back home and take the responsibility of his family. Agriculture and business was their family income. He is married to Aysha.

Politics

KM Shaji’s life towards politics started from his school age. He started his interest by becoming the school leader of Govt. High school. He won the first prize in elocution in the Kerala School Kalolsavam, which made him look into his future in politics. He was the state treasurer of msf (Muslim Students Federation).He served as treasurer, secretary and president of Muslim Youth League. He was elected as the vice president in his panchayat, later he became the president of the same. He competed in Eravipuram elections and missed his chance, later he competed from Azhikode assembly constituency and elected as MLA. He was one of the syndicate member of CUSAT.

Awards

KM Shaji won several awards for his contributions and works in Social, Environmental and Relief fields, some of them are ‘Karunya Award’ for standing with differently abled people from Association for Disable People, ‘Abudhabi Cultural Association Award’ for environmental activities and ‘Veera Pazhassi Raja Samithi Award’ for secular forum.
