KAJC (90.1 FM) is a radio station broadcasting a Contemporary Christian format. Licensed to Salem, Oregon, USA. The station was established by CSN International, and is currently owned by Calvary Chapel Monmouth-Independence.^[1]

History

The station was assigned the call sign KAJC on October 8, 2002.^[2]

CSN International filed an application to change the city of license to Millersburg, to increase power, and to move the transmitter location. This application was granted on February 1, 2008. The proposed transmitter site would have resulted in lower signal levels in the communities of Monmouth and Independence. Since the station is now owned locally, the construction permit for Millersburg would expire and the station remains at the originally licensed location.

On July 16, 2008, CSN International filed an application for assignment of KAJC along with a number of other stations owned by CSN International to Calvary Radio Network, Inc.

An earlier FM station with the call sign KAJC was licensed to Alvin, Texas--a Houston suburb--in the early 1960s and operated on 102.1 mHz. That station was one of the first FM outlets in the United States to broadcast a news and contemporary adult music format, and was cited several times by the United Press International Texas Broadcasters' Association (UPIBAT) for outstanding achievement in radio broadcast journalism. The original KAJC was later sold and now operates in Houston as Magic 102.
