KXBJ (96.9 FM) is a radio station licensed to El Campo, Texas, USA, it serves the Texas Gulf coast area. The station is currently owned by KSBJ Educational Foundation.
The station simulcasts Contemporary Christian music from KSBJ whose studios are in Humble, TX. The transmitter is located west of Blessing.
The station was assigned the KNTE-FM call letters by the Federal Communications Commission on December 13, 2007.[1] The station was originally assigned a KIOX-FM call sign on November 15, 1990 before switching to KXGC-FM two weeks later on December 1, 1990. This change was also short-lived as the station switched back to KIOX-FM on February 4, 1991. KIOX-FM carried on the calls originally assigned to 1270 AM, which was lost in a botched move to serve Houston. KIOX-FM was originally a country station, locally operated in El Campo, using the moniker "X 97". The station would hold these call letters even after the sale to Liberman Broadcasting, resulting in the station changing to a Spanish-language format, until the 2007 switch to KNTE-FM, to match the calls with the "El Norte" format that had been installed on 96.9.
On January 18, 2012 the sale of the station from Liberman Broadcasting to the KSBJ Educational Foundation was announced.[2] The FCC approved the sale on February 28, 2012.[3] The sale closed on April 13, 2012.
